Things to Consider: Getting the Most Out of Your Shoot
Here’s just a few questions to guide you along getting the most out of your experience. Any other questions? Feel free to send us an email at contact@grayskyportraits.com!

What do I want my pictures to look like?
You might know the kind of session you want, but not necessarily how you want it to look. Luckily, this is more of an opportunity than a road bump.
One really popular technique among clients is to create a Pinterest board. Not only does this serve as a springboard for more ideas, but it also works as a compass when it comes to choosing posing, clothing and location. Feel free to share your Pinterest board or other example images with me ahead of time so I can best fulfill your vision.

Where should I have my pictures taken?
Some people book sessions with a place already in mind, while others are a bit more open-ended. Either is perfectly ok!
The best place for pictures for you might depend on a few different things, such as distance or availability. But it also is determined by how you want your pictures to look. Going for a more somber, moody feel? Wooded trail is the place to go! Looking for something a bit more upbeat and warm? Open field at sunset!

What should I wear for my shoot?
What you want to wear for you shoot is completely up to you! However, we do have some tips to pass along if you’re looking for some guidance:
In general, avoid patterns, neon colors, unintentionally oversized clothes and large logos. If shooting with a group, it’s good to pick a statement piece (say, a floral dress for mom) and coordinate everyone else’s outfits around that.
For women specifically, avoid maxi-dresses with no defining features or dresses with stiff fabric. Men should steer clear of overpowering patterns–a plain dress shirt tends to look best.
